Marcus Baylor

The Baylor Project

Marcus Baylor is one of the most creative drummers with an unusual ability to tell a story through improvisation. Born and bred in St. Louis, his journey from playing drums in his father’s church, to graduating from The New School, touring and performing with jazz icons including Cassandra Wilson and Kenny Garrett, and owning the drummer’s chair in jazz super group, the Yellowjackets for an entire decade is an impressive one. Now, as co-founder of both The Baylor Project and indie label, Be A Light, with his wife, Jean Baylor, they received 2 GRAMMY® nominations for their debut CD aptly titled, “The Journey”.
